In Ayvalık district of Aegean province of Balıkesir, İzmir and Ayvalık coast guard crews launched a joint operation and captured 412 illegal migrants of Syrian origin in attempt to cross into Greek island of Lesbos.

The coast guard boats have noticed six inflatable boats carrying 412 migrants including a large number of women and children off the Ayvalık beaches, while tracking the major forest fire in Lesbos.

While the migrants that have been captured were brought to Cunda Island in the region, it was reported that the migrants have paid around 1500 euros per person to human traffickers.
